What is prism?

PRISM stands for Paramilitary Risk Intervention and Strategic Mitigation. They are a fictional multinational military force that acts as specialized forces that can be deployed under unique circumstances as determined by the PRISM governing nations. They represent the best of the best in modern engagement techniques and deploying state-of-the-art technology. In a world of increasing global destabilization, conflict, and terrorism, they are meant to be a light cutting through a world submerged in darkness.

A Shared-continuity

There are countless paramilitary, special ops, and spy stories in the world. However, there aren’t many that have a shared continuity between a roster of creatives. The PRISM universe is meant to do just that. Create a playground for writers, artists, game designers, and more to come together and build a universe all their own, together.

Inspiration

We were kids of the 80s and 90s. The G.I. Joes were pervasive and inescapable. Then came Tom Clancy novels. Then, first-person shooters. Those who lived through those years were constantly steeped in paramilitary fiction.

At its heart, PRISM takes the foundation of G.I. Joe and reframes it through a grittier, more realistic lens akin to Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and Metal Gear Solid, while pushing the technology into a near-future place.

In 2026, however, it’s hard to stomach paramilitary fiction in the same way we once did in the 1990s, as kids. We know too much, and, sadly, have seen too much. We’ve lived through invasions, genocides, coups, extralegal attacks on citizens, and it’s all left a bad taste, putting it mildly. At the center of all of our tactical combat and action set pieces is the understanding that military action should be a last resort, and always carries collateral damage. This is not military propaganda, nor glorification. That has no place in PRISM. Neither does colonization, imperialism, or genocide. PRISM is an international cast of operators only brought together to stand between threats that imperil the entire globe, and never before.
