Viking Squad

The Special Unit of the National Police Commissioner (Sérsveit ríkislögreglustjóra), known as “Viking Squad,” is the police tactical unit of Iceland. Iceland does not have a standard military force, and therefore, Viking Squad will often serve necessary, similar functions of other militaries. The Viking Squad was modeled after Norway’s Delta PTU and trains with them and Danish PTUs. Of the entire Icelandic police force, only 46 are members of Viking Squad.
